Newwind ("we", "us", "our") is a community-run Minecraft server, website, Discord server, and associated services. We respect user privacy and aim to collect only the minimum data required to operate securely and fairly.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
1. Who We Are

Newwind is operated by a community administration team based in the United Kingdom.

Pseudonymized Data
Where this policy refers to data as "pseudonymized", this means the data is processed or shared without direct identifiers (such as Minecraft usernames or Discord account ids).
While we may retain internal records that could technically be used to re-associate such data for security or abuse-prevention purposes, we do not provide third parties with the ability to identify individual users.
Pseudonymized data is still treated as personal data under applicable data protection law and handled accordingly.
3. Minecraft Server

When you play on the Newwind Minecraft server, we may collect:

3.3 Public Chat Is Public
Please be aware:
- Newwind chat is public
- Messages you send are visible to other players
- Minecraft clients may locally log chat messages on users' own devices
Do not send sensitive or private information in public chat.
3.4 World Downloads
- In the extremely unlikely event that Newwind shuts down, we may release public world downloads.
Do not store sensitive information (such as passwords or private data) on signs, books, or other in-game objects.
4. Third-Party Services
Some data is shared with third parties only when required for specific features:
- Discord Chat Bridge
- Public in-game chat messages are relayed to the Newwind Discord
- Translation Services
- When necessary for cross-language communication, pseudonymized chat messages may be sent to third-party translation services (such as DeepL/Google Translate)
- VPN/ASN Detection
- Pseudonymized IP addresses may be checked against third-party VPN or ASN detection services
- Voting Websites
- When you vote for the server, you are subject to the privacy policies of those third-party sites
- Minecraft Client
- Use of Minecraft is subject to Mojang/Microsoft's privacy policies
5. Newwind Discord Server
5.1 Data Collected
On the Newwind Discord server, we may collect:
- Discord IDs, messages and message attachments (such as images/videos)
5.2 How This Data Is Used
- Messages and attachments may be logged for moderation and safety purposes
- Pseudonymized images may be processed by third-party moderation services (e.g. nudity or gore detection)
5.3 Public Nature of Discord
- The Newwind Discord server is public.
- Your use of Discord is also subject to Discord's own Privacy Policy.
6. Newwind Website, Wiki, and Store
6.1 Hosting & Infrastructure
- Hosted on OVH
- Protected by Cloudflare as a reverse proxy
Users are subject to the privacy policies of these providers.
6.2 Logs
We may log:
- IP addresses
- Pages visited
- Browser identifiers (such as screen resolution, user agent)
Logs are used for:
- Security
- Abuse prevention
- Performance analysis
As part of these purposes:
- Pseudonymized IP addresses may be checked against third-party VPN or ASN detection services
7. Contact Forms
When you submit a contact form, we may collect:
- Email address
- Form content
Usage:
- Emails are used to respond to inquiries
- Forms are forwarded via an email API to our inbox (hosted on Proton Mail)
- Pseudonymized emails may be checked against third-party disposable email detection services
Emails are not shared with third parties except as required to deliver messages or by law.
Marketing emails are not currently sent. If introduced in the future, such emails will be sent only by Newwind, will not be shared with or sent by third parties, and will always include a clear opt-out option.
8. Store & Payments
When using the Newwind Store:
- Payments are processed by gateways such as PayPal and Stripe
- These services are subject to their own privacy policies
- Email addresses are collected for:
- Sending payment receipts
- Transaction records
Name Collection
- Names may be collected for a disallowed-names list used to prevent doxxing
- These names are not linked to specific Minecraft accounts and are not shared with third parties
9. Security
We take security very seriously:
- All systems are minimal-access
- No security incidents since our inception in 2019
While no system is perfect, we actively work to protect user data.
10. Data Sharing & Law Enforcement
- We do not voluntarily share user data
- Data is disclosed only if legally required (e.g. court orders)
- As of this policy's publication, we have never been compelled to disclose user data
11. Children
- Newwind is not specifically directed at children, but may be used by minors.
- Newwind is intended for users aged 13 and older, or for users under 13 with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, in accordance with applicable platform rules and data protection laws.
- We do not knowingly collect additional personal data from children beyond what is necessary to operate the service.
12. Your Rights
Under applicable UK data protection law, you have the right to:
